I've only just finished reading build 8 and it's currently five in the morning. This project is one of the best things i've had the chance to experience. From the writing, to the characters themselves, to the CG's and the audio, it's damn near perfect. I haven't read something that makes the dark scary again in a long time.
I'm glad to have found it just as it's about to wrap up soon with it's second to last build coming out, but to say I'm sad that the story will end soon is an understatement. There's just something so human about it.
Melancholy.
A word I doubt our dear Loken would be familiar with. In truth I can only feel a deep sorrow for the end, but a blaze of eagerness and excitement enriches my soul as I'm reminded everything can be experienced again and again. If only I could erase my memories too, so I could do it for the first time.

Wow. Just wow. I don’t think a VN has ever made me actually feel fear like the way this VN does it. This is one of the best VNs I have ever read, way up there with Adastra and Remember the Flowers. I love Loken’s tough guy personality but always makes me laugh when Alex pulls command out of nowhere and he just melts. Gets me every time. I also love Loken’s attempts to try and understand Alex. I can tell the creator of the VN has a creative mind, I can’t wait to see them do more!!

When I first booted up the game, I didn’t think I’d love Byte as a character, and I wasn’t immediately sold on the art style. But the sharp dialogue, strong characterization, and intriguing hook in the first hour kept me going—and I’m so glad they did! Characters like Loken and Tahki left really strong first impressions, and I was thrilled to see those relationships evolve and deepen as the novel progressed, often in ways that subverted my expectations.
One of the most impressive tings to me was how distinctive each character feels. Even in big scenes with five or six characters, it’s always clear who’s speaking—not because of nameplates, but because their voices and speaking styles are so unique. Loken, in particular, is masterfully written. I loved unraveling his layers—his line, “You are small,” became a personal favorite as I began to understand the deeper meanings behind it. And the first time Human called himself “small”? That had me smiling and kicking my feet. And when we get big-alpha-hound Loken? Incredible. 10/10. No notes. Keep it coming. Please I need more.
While I’m not usually a fan of horror—especially anything gory or full of jumpscares—you’ve struck a balance in Soulcreek that’s both intense and deeply engaging. The cosmic and psychological horror feels real, but it’s not about random monsters jumping out of nowhere. The fear is rooted in the choices your characters make—their deliberate wading into that black ocean, knowing the answers they find will bring no healing or absolution. It's also well-balanced and punctuated by funny, sweet, and sexy scenes that keep it from being overwhelming to the reader.
Human’s relentless pursuit of answers is like a slow-motion car crash I can’t look away from. On one hand, he could choose to live a quiet, romantic life with Loken outside the Blackzones—but we know he never will. That tension, between what could be and what he’s determined to chase, is beautifully tragic. If it were me, I’d have thrown it all away after the Demon left the “art” while they slept.
Now, back to Byte. Early on, I wasn’t a fan—not because of his sharp wit (which is great), but because it felt like he made things a little too easy or convenient for Human. But as the story progressed, I grew to love that little dickhead (affectionate). More than that, I came to appreciate how he challenges the reader's thoughts around “life” and “souls.” Byte’s journey—and the world around the Human—adds layers of meaning to the setting and masterfully develops themes around knowledge, ignorance, and madness. Everything feels deeply intentional, like the setting isn’t just a backdrop but an integral part of the story’s message.
I’ve been gushing for a while now, but I just want to say again: this is an incredible story I've been privileged to read. It’s consumed my thoughts for the past two days, and I’m dying to see what happens next. Ryuo, I have so much respect for your work and hope you feel immensely proud of what you’ve created and accomplished so far. Thank you for sharing Soulcreek with us, for sticking with it, and for giving us all this amazing story for free. Keep up the fantastic work—I’ll be checking back regularly!

In-cre-di-ble! It was a blast! It was fantastic! So unique and immersive. I was totally transported to Illayla. I love Byte, the connection we have built with him, I love Loken even more with his cuddles and a pure heart. I am in awe with the work you put in that game between the sound effects, the hyper realistic visuals, the story, the characters and their peculiar personalities. It was incredible. I had to keep playing for 4 days and let my computer switched on in order to finish the game so far because I would lost all my progress if I had closed the games to switch off my PC. I am so enthusiastic I am almost speechless 😶. I can't wait for a significant update because the game is already very long so I might not play for just a small update. It was fantastic through and through. I was totally engrossed into it. Excellent 👍🏽

Fuck... I just finished the latest build and I am shaken. The way this game plays with agency and anger and curiosity have me hooked like I haven't been since first diving into Howly's work. And the big twist right before the end?!?! FUCK. And it's crazy, because I feel like I absolutely should have seen it coming, but it just hit me like a truck! This is all going to seriously impact how I write my own horror in the future.
And it's insane, I understand some of the motivations way more than I would have initially expected. That burning curiosity. That insatiable desire, that desperate need to know. Added to playing on my personal fears around powerlessness and it's just the best feeling of my brain being turned to soup in obsession I've had in a long time
Oh my god... I literally just finished this last build, and i'm just absolutly speechless, the story, the emotions, the HORROR, it's just AMAZING i swear to god I've never read such an amazing and rich story before, i am honestly just at a loss for words.
Seriously, I. CAN. NOT. WAIT, for the next build, especially after the end of this one, there were somethings i was able to predict, kinda, like the thing about Byte, the thing about the Zephyr and the four (being vague on purpose as to not give away any spoilers), i was able to figure most of that stuff out than what i assume was intended, but that's the thing, IT DIDN'T MATTER AT ALL, like seriously not one bit.
Even IF, you knew it was coming, no you don't, it hits you just as hard and just as much even if that were to be the case.
I swear I'm being completely real when I say this, anyone, and I mean anyone, Furry or not, should absolutely give this game a try, it seriously just gets better and better.
From the bottom of my heart, this game tops any other story i've read up until now, and It really saddens me that It'll eventually end, because I'm just so enraptured with these characters, their stories, their dynamics, it's insane. No joke, this game would make WAVES as like, a series or something, I honestly believe that It's a masterpiece.
I seriously can't wait for what you've got in store for us, i just KNOW it will be great, and if what I've seen throughout the game is true, It'll most likely demolish any expectations that I might have.

I am just shocked at Alex's development, his Rage, his Fury, it was absolutly monstrous. I was shocked, I was legit scared of what he was going to do, i mean sure I know he'd never hurt Loken, but holy sh1t.
I've gotta say, the part where Loken growled at Alex to keep him away, it legit hurt, and then the hug he gave him when Loken had to decide, It was honestly heartbreaking, i honestly cried during alot of the emotional scenes of this story, but this part ripped me apart for a hot minute there, it was seriously awful.
And while i WANT them to be together, i really do, I have to admit that what Alex did, while i can sympathize with his reasons, it was just monstrous, I know that's kinda the whole point, but seriously it was BRUTAL.
I sincerely hope that they can both somehow move on from this and be together once again, I hope Loken won't be scared of Alex anymore and will think of him as a good human once more. But I also really hope that Alex, really, truly learns his lesson, I mean, when he was doing the thing with the algorythm and DIDN'T tell neither Loken OR Byte, i honestly wanted to jump through the screen and punch the ever living day light out of him.
I hope he learns his lesson, so that he can finally heal from his rage and pain, and I hope that everyone, especially Alex and Loken, get their much deserved happy ending in the end, they've both gone through a lot.
PS: I was not expecting that Kaius would do this, I honestly can only think of one moment that foreshadowed that this was going to happen, but I was way too enraputed by Alex's horrible torture, one of the many moments where i was horrified.
